Dublin River Liffey

Tour on the River Liffey

Rather than spend all day wandering the streets, uncertain of where to go and what to do, why not jump on a tour boat? A cruise on the River Liffey is the perfect way to see Dublin in one fell swoop. The 48-passenger boat will take you on a guided tour of Dublin where you can learn more about its history. Each tour usually lasts around 45-60 minutes and will bring you to where the Vikings first arrived, where Oliver Cromwell landed and even drift you past the Monument of Light.

Visit the Book of Kells

The Old Library at Trinity College is home the Book of Kells. It is a manuscript book in Latin and contains the four Gospels. Created by Celtic monks around 800 it is a true masterpiece of western calligraphy.

Whilst visiting the Trinity College make sure you stop at the Long Room which is situated upstairs. This houses over 200,000 of Trinity’s oldest books. If you visit during the summer months then you can take a 30-minute guided tour with one of the students.

Drink Guinness

No trip to Dublin would be complete without a visit to the Guinness Factory. Seven floors of rich heritage await. Here you can find all about the craft of brewing, cooperage and transportation, advertising and sponsorship and even how to craft the perfect pint.

At the end of your trip make sure you reach the Gravity Bar. With 360 degree views across Dublin it really is a sight to behold. Why not leave your trip to the Guinness Factory till later on in the afternoon as the views from the Gravity Bar are truly spectacular at night.

Avoca

If all of this sightseeing has given you an appetite then make sure you head for lunch at Avoca. This fantastic store is just off Grafton Street (the heart of shopping in Dublin). On the 6th floor you will find the cafe where you can feast on a hearty lunch.
